The Mbandaka head wrap is named after the capital of the Équateur Province and lies along the Congo River. It's home to the world's first Habitat for Humanity Project, pioneered by Disciples of Christ missionary, Millard Fuller. He began the project in Mbandaka in 1973 and founded Habitat when he returned to the U.S. several years later.
