Zongo is a town in the Équateur Province of Congo alongside the Ubangi River near Central African Republic (CAR). The city was inundated with refugees fleeing CAR in 2012-13 including the family of President François Bozizé once his country fell into rebel control on March 24, 2013. While Congo produces some of the world's highest number of refugees, it also absorbs nearly half a million others seeking safety from surrounding countries and accommodates 2.8 million of its own displaced people.
